Employment Expos
To better assist students in their career development, the Office of Career Services initiates two Employment Expos each semester. The Fall and Spring Employment Expos are two day career events that focus on developing students’ career skills and connecting students with employers on and off the Navajo Nation.
The 2018 Spring Employment Expo took place April 10-11, 2018 and featured approximately 40 potential employers such as Adelante Development Center, Inc., Arviso Construction Company, Inc., Central Consolidated School District, City of Farmington, First Financial Credit Union, Los Alamos National Laboratory, United Rentals, and more. Workshops included résumé and letter of interest development by NM Workforce Connections, interview skills with the NTUA, and professional and effective communication by NTU HR, to name a few. There was also a focus on entrepreneurship with the Navajo Tech Innovation Center hosting entrepreneurial workshops.
The 2018 Fall Employment Expo will take place September 19-20, 2018. Please keep checking this webpage for updates on this event. Career + Job Fairs
Periodically, the Office of Career Services invites students to attend career + job fairs off-campus. These fairs typically happen in urban centers like Albuquerque, Gallup, and Farmington. We are working on branching out to cities like Phoenix. We also try to attend career fairs hosted by the Navajo Nation Department of Workforce Development in Window Rock, Arizona.
NTU students, when there are opportunities to travel off-campus for career + job fairs, please take advantage of these excursions and sign up for a slot. Any off-campus trips are first come, first serve and include lunch.
NTU faculty, the Career Services Coordinator will either approach you in person or email you about students who may be traveling for these career + job fairs. We ask that you please work with us on student assignments and class make-up. However, we do understand that students’ academics are the priority.
Presentations and Other Events
At multiple points in the semester, Career Services holds presentations and workshops to assist students and alumni with career development. We also do our best to present in classes. NTU faculty, please work with the Career Services Coordinator to schedule an in-class presentation towards the beginning of the semester.
